Looks like Damon Lindelof is all set for another big hit.
Based on Lindelof’s Instagram feed, it seems that he has made up his mind, and that a Watchmen series is a go at HBO after all.
The photo shows what appears to be the writer’s room for a new series, with the words “Day One.” Fans will immediately recognize the inscription and its meaning from the comic which was adapted into a feature film in 2009 by Zack Snyder.
This will be HBO’s second attempt at developing a series based on the landmark DC Comics miniseries by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Watchmen was an extremely complex graphic novel filled with a lot of flawed costumed characters, strong plot, powerful sense of style, and also contained a world that seems a little too close to our own.
It was first published in 1986 and collected in 1987. Zack Snyder released the feature film incarnation in 2009, to mixed reviews and disappointing domestic box office. It starred Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Matthew Goode, Carla Gugino, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Patrick Wilson.
An outlaw superhero's investigation of a possible conspiracy against his colleagues changes all their lives even as evidence builds toward a horrific conclusion.
