Are you a kind of person who wants to be in a movie set? How does it look like? How does it feel to be there? Prepare yourself as you will be toured in some of the movie sets that still exist in our time.

1Star Wars

Star Wars is an American epic space opera created by George Lucas. The movie set that is seen below is located at Onk Jmel, Tunisia. Star Wars were disappointed of Skywalker’s fictional home that had spent $11,000 on it, and worked with locals to restore the old set.


Considered as one of the “National Treasures”, Robin Williams starred the movie, “Popeye”. Up to now, the Popeye Village is still open to public as an open-air museum. Aside from the movie set itself, it has attractions great for families. The children has the priviledge to meet Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto, and Wimpy.

3The Patriot

The movie took place in South Carolina that was being starred by Mel Gibson, Chris Cooper, and Heath Ledger. The Darby Farm in Chester Countyserved as the location for many of the film’s battle scenes. The location for the Continental Encampment and the plantation in Camden was at Historic Brattonsville. After the movie was completed, it was completely abandoned.


A 2013 Spanish-Canadian movie that was filmed in an abandoned house before. After filming the movie, it was abandoned again. Although you can still visit the place, but do you dare to?

5The Hills Have Eyes

The Hills Have Eyes was a french movie film originally by Wes Craven and remade by Alexandre Aja. It is one of the scariest movies that was filmed in Souss-Massa-Draa, Morocco. After finishing the film, they abandoned it and it looks creepier than before.


A science fiction action thriller that was starred by Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Emily Blunt. It was all about time travelling where Bruce Willis met his younger self at a Diner in New Orleans.

7Iron Man

It is one of my favorite movies and is played by my favorite actor, Robert Downey, Jr. The part of his house where all his robotic costumes were there was an unused movie set. It can be found at the Blue Cloud Movie Ranch in California.

8The Fugitive

It was film in 1993 and one of the best American action movies that you can still watch. Vastly, the film was set in the rural areas of Illinois although some parts of the movie were filmed in Jackson County, North Carolina, and Great Smoky Mountains. You can still find some debris from the scene of the prison bus crash.

9Hunger Games

The famous District 12 is filmed in Asheville, North Carolina. It is an abandoned 1920s textile community in Henry River Mill Village.

10Lord of the Rings

New Zealand has become a tourist destination after millions of dollars were spent and years to complete the trilogy’s famous locations. Pop quiz – the director of the movie, Peter Jackson was born in the same country but this ain’t the reason why the set was made here. It is the diversity of location that New Zealand has to offer.

11Pirates of the Carribean

Walllilabou Anchorage was the principle Caribbean location for Disney’s 2003 hit movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean”. It is located on the main island of St. Vincent of the Caribbean Sea. It is being restored with a museum because tourists are visiting the island annually.
