A three-year-old boy fondling his four-month-old brother while lying down together is a very sweet image. But what captured this mother in this picture is much more than that. Thomas, the smaller of the two, has terminal cancer and William is aware of that.
"I tiptoed into the living room with my camera ready to capture whatever they were doing. I was hoping to see my baby covered in Nutella or something, but instead I saw something else. "
He came into the room and found his son William stroking his little brother while saying to him, "Your big brother is here, everything will be fine."
Sheryl could not bear the tears (neither did we). Thomas's cancer is so serious that it is unknown for how much longer he will live. It is a very aggressive case, a malignant rhabdoid tumor that is seen only in 25 children in the United States every year. The chances of surviving him go under 30%.
And William has behaved like a real superhero about it.
"He realizes that his mom and dad are very sad because Thomas is not well. He does his best to comfort his baby brother. "
Despite the sadness, the parents decided to take advantage of everything they can to their two little ones, taking them to the beach, the countryside, trips for the weekend and parks, since, even we are safe, they have the best children of the world.
